To protect student data and ensure best practices around privacy and security, you cannot view existing passwords once student accounts have been created. This is not solely due to GDPR, but rather a broader commitment to safeguarding sensitive information—especially as Doodle collects personalised learning data to support each child’s progress.
Why can’t I see passwords after account creation?
Once student accounts are created, their login details are automatically downloaded in a file. For security reasons, passwords are not stored in a viewable format on the system. This prevents unauthorised access and ensures that student data remains protected.
We recommend saving the login slips to your device at the time of account creation. If you're unsure whether you’ve saved them, check your downloads folder for files named:
Doodle_login_details
Doodle_login_slips
Doodle_login_cards
What if a student forgets their password?
You can easily regenerate new passwords for students via the Dashboard.
This will:
Keep their existing usernames
Assign new passwords
Prevent access using the old password
Once regenerated, you can download a new set of login slips with the updated credentials.
Why is this good practice?
Storing passwords in a retrievable format poses a security risk. By not retaining them, we reduce the chance of data breaches and unauthorized access. Resetting passwords annually is also a recommended practice to maintain account security and ensure students start each academic year with fresh credentials.
How to regenerate passwords
To regenerate passwords, login to the Teacher Dashboard and follow these steps:
Head to Manage > students
Select the class from the drop down menu at the top
To regenerate login slips for the whole class, select the top most tick box and a little tick will appear next to all students' names. If you wish to download the login slip for just one child, tick the box next to that child's name
In the Select action menu at the top of the page click on Regenerate Passwords / Login Slips and then select Confirm
You will then have an option to reset and regenerate passwords so they are different or give every child the same password
Please note that this will create them a brand new password, so be sure to notify the child of their new password as soon as you do this!
If you wish to manually edit an individual student's username or password, please see here.
