How do I check whether or not I have registered my child/ren for the Challenge?

Within the Summer Challenge tile, located on the homepage of the Parent Dashboard, you'll be able to see whether or not you have registered your child/ren for the DoodleMaths and/or DoodleEnglish Challenge. If you see target progress bars next to your child's name, you can rest assured they are registered for our Challenge.

My child doesn't have a paid Doodle subscription, can they join the Challenge?

A paid or school subscription is required to register in the Challenge and receive a pin badge and virtual certificate free of charge.

Alongside joining the Challenge, a paid Doodle subscription gives users access to unlimited exercises, educational games and virtual rewards. Plus, all subscriptions begin with a free trial!

What does my child need to do to earn their reward?

Encourage your child to earn 750 stars (or 600 if they were born after August 2017) and use DoodleMaths and/or DoodleEnglish for 14 days* between the 1st July - 31st August.

*These 14 days don’t need to be in a row, so your child can use Doodle whenever they’d like! A day of use is counted as completing at least one exercise (an x-a-day, Power-Up, Tricky, Assignment or baseline assessment exercise) between 00:01 and 23:59. The stars do not need to be earned just in these 14 days, they can be earned across the whole 2 months that the challenge is running.

Once they’ve reached their goal, we'll send them a pin badge in the post! You can also claim a personalised certificate for them by logging in to the Parent Dashboard and pressing Download certificate before the 26th of September.

How can I track my child's progress towards their target?

There are lots of ways to track your child’s progress:

  • Download our printable Challenge tracker sheet. Doing this is also a great way to keep them motivated!

  • In DoodleMaths or DoodleEnglish, visit the Learning Zone and take a look at the Challenge gauge in the left-hand corner to see how close they are to their target.

  • Press on the arrow icon in the top left-hand corner of the Learning Zone and press on Badges. The gauge beneath the Summer Challenge badge will show your child's progress towards their goal!

  • Visit the Parent Dashboard, hover over Analyse and select Effort. Select the date your child started the Challenge and the current date to see how many stars they’ve earned and how many days they've used Doodle for.

My child has a school subscription, can they join the Challenge?

Yes! To join the fun, you'll first need to link your email address to your child's Doodle account. For guidance on how to do this, please read this help article.

Once you've done this, visit the Parent Dashboard and press Register next to the Summer Challenge icon.

If they'd like to join both Challenges, a home subscription can be taken out in the subject their school is not subscribed to. To do this, link your email address your child’s account, visit the Parent Dashboard, hover over My account and press Subscriptions.

Please note: your child’s rewards will be sent to their school after the Challenge has come to an end.

How do I claim my child's reward?

There’s no need to claim their pin badge: once they reach their target, we’ll send it to your home or school address (depending on their subscription type).

You can claim their certificate by visiting the Parent Dashboard and pressing Download certificate next to their name before midnight on the 26th of September.

Do stars earned in DoodleTables and/or DoodleSpell count towards the star target?

Only stars earned in DoodleMaths count towards the DoodleMaths Challenge.

Similarly, only stars earned in DoodleEnglish count towards the DoodleEnglish Challenge.

How long does the Challenge take to complete?

The Challenge will take a minimum of 14 days to complete (if Doodle is used for 14 days and 750/600 stars are earned within these 14 days). These days don’t need to be consecutive; your child can use Doodle whenever they like throughout the Challenge period!

Your child could also earn their stars before and/or after their 14 days of Doodling.

To receive a FREE pin badge and certificate, encourage them to reach their goal by midnight on the 31st of August.

How can I toggle in-app Challenge messaging on or off?

If a child has entered the Spring or Summer Challenge they will be able to track their progress in the Doodle apps using the two progress bars the appear in the Learning Zone.

If your child would prefer not to see the progress bars in the app, these can be hidden. This is useful if your child is finding the messaging stressful or if your child has started the Challenge but no longer wants to take part. To toggle this feature on or off please follow these steps.
