Through the Baseline Assessment Data page, teachers can explore detailed insights into students' starting points in DoodleMaths, DoodleEnglish, and DoodleSpell. This page provides a clear report explaining what the baseline assessment is, how it works, and the level at which each student will begin working within Doodle.

โ„น๏ธ Please note - for DoodleTables, you will be directed to View Understanding, because there is no baseline assessment process for DoodleTables.

The Doodle Baseline option is available via the Work Programmes menu in the Teacher Dashboard.

You can view data for an entire class or individual students by toggling between the Class Overview and Student Overview options at the top of the graph.

Class overview

By selecting the Class Overview, you can see whether each student has completed their baseline assessment and where they have been placed within the Doodle programme based on their performance in the baseline assessment.

Up to 30 students are visible at once in the Class Overview tab. To view additional students, use the arrows located at the bottom of the graph.

By default, the graph arranges students alphabetically by their first name. However, you can change the sorting by toggling the options at the top to sort by baseline score (ascending), baseline completion status, or student name.

A blue diamond in the table indicates that a student has completed the baseline assessment:

A dotted circle shows that the student has not yet completed the baseline assessment:

Click on a student's name to see additional details about that student's baseline assessment.

  • You can see whether they are mid way through their baseline assessment:

  • Or, whether they have have completed their baseline assessment and where we have placed them within the work programme.

For more data about individual students you can select the Go to student overview button from the pop up box.

Student Overview

You can access more detailed data about each student's baseline exercises by switching to Student Overview at the top of the graph, or by clicking the link in the card that appears when you hover over a student's blue diamond or dotted circle in Class Overview.

This view shows exactly where a student has been placed within the work programme based on their baseline assessment results. The screenshot below illustrates the year group content covered in each completed baseline step, and where Doodle has now positioned the student in the programme.

Underneath the graph, youโ€™ll find a detailed breakdown of each question the student encountered during their baseline assessment. This includes:

  • The curriculum topic linked to each question

  • Whether the student answered correctly, incorrectly, or skipped the question

  • The time taken to answer each question

  • The confidence rating the student provided after each baseline step

Use the Next and Previous arrows to toggle between each baseline assessment step.

How to use this page

This page provides a clear overview of how each student performed in their baseline assessment. If a student mentions that the work programme feels too easy or too difficult, this is a helpful place to check their baseline results and understand why Doodle has placed them at their current level.

You can also set a new baseline assessment from this page. To do so, make sure you are in Student Overview, have the student's name selected on the left-hand side, and then click Set Baseline Assessment in the top right-hand corner.

More information on baseline assessments and how they work can be found here.
