What is the target zone?

The Target Zone helps learners stay on track with their weekly goals in Doodle. When a student logs in, they’ll see a gauge with an arrow in the bottom left-hand corner of their screen. This gauge shows whether they’re on target to meet their weekly star goal, which is tailored to each child’s age and ability. The goal is designed to be achievable by Doodling little and often throughout the week.

How Does It Work?

  • Click or tap the gauge to expand it and view more details.

  • The gauge has three zones:

    • Green Zone: The learner is on track. Great job!

    • Red Zone (Left): The learner hasn’t earned enough stars yet. In this zone, Games and Friends will be locked to encourage focus.

    • Red Zone (Right): The learner has earned significantly more stars than their target. This means they’ve spent more time than recommended on Doodle. In this zone, all activities will be locked to promote healthy screen time habits.

Unlocking Activities

If a learner is in red zone to the right of the dial and you’re happy for them to continue, you can unlock activities by entering your teacher password when prompted.

Monitoring Progress as a Teacher

To check if your students are in the green zone:

  1. Go to Work programmes > View effort on the Teacher Dashboard.

  2. You’ll see a bar for each student showing whether they’re in the green or red zone.

We recommend rewarding students who consistently stay in the green zone. For ideas on how to celebrate their progress, click here.
