To supplement learning or revise tricky topics, children, parents and teachers can add extra work in topics they'd like to practise. These are known as an Extras.

How to add an Extra in the Learning Zone

Parents and children over the age of twelve can assign themselves an Extra from the Learning Zone in any of the Doodle programmes. To do this:

  1. Log in to Doodle

  2. From the Learning Zone, press the red Add an Extra icon

  3. Type in a topic and follow the in-app instructions; the Extra will then appear in the Learning Zone as an icon called Extra

Please note: it will only be possible to add an Extra in this way if no other Extra is currently assigned to them.

To set an Extra for a child under the age of twelve, please enter your parent or teacher password after pressing the Add an Extra icon.

How to add an Extra in the Parent Dashboard

Parents can add Extras from the Parent Dashboard. To do this:

  1. Log in to the Parent Dashboard

  2. Hover over Extras and select Assign

  3. Toggle between the programme icons to select whether you'd like to set an Extra in DoodleMaths, DoodleTables, DoodleEnglish and DoodleSpell. Please view this article for more information.

  4. Search for a topic or scroll through the relevant AREs (Age Related Expectations or topics they are expected to learn at this age)

  5. Click on an ARE title to view the available lessons and press the plus icon next to the lesson of your choice

  6. Select when you'd like the Extra to appear in their work programme and press Add

  7. The Extra will appear in their work programme as an Extra icon in the Learning Zone on the specified day

We recommend only adding one Extra at a time to a child's account.

How to complete an Extra

Once an Extra has been opened by your child for the first time, they'll be asked to complete this at the start of their daily Doodling.

They'll be asked the same Extra until they achieve a score of at least 75% (indicating that they've understood the topic), at which point the Extra is considered completed.

How to delete an Extra

You can delete any Extras that have been assigned to your child by following these steps:

  1. Log in to the Parent Dashboard

  2. Hover over Extras and select Analyse

  3. Click the Remove all or bin icon

Please note: in order to delete an Extra, your child must not have opened the activity or begun the exercise. In this instance, please contact our Customer Support team via the chat bubble on the screen.
