How to reinstate a child's streak on the Parent Dashboard

Has your child accidentally broken their streak? Not to worry, reinstating a streak is super simple to action from the Parent Dashboard.

Streak-building has been an important aspect of Doodle for many years. We know that Doodling consistently and regularly enables children to learn, revise and master sufficient topics to progress in their learning, and building a streak is a great way to demonstrate that effort.

If a child misses a day of Doodling, they will be given the option to do two lots of work the following day and catch up.

If the streak is broken due to a break longer than this there are two options available.

  1. Child can use a streak saver (if they have one): A streak saver will allow the child to save their streak after an unexpected break or freeze their streak ahead of a planned break. More information on how to do use streak savers can be found here. You can also see if a child has used a streak saver via the Parent Dashboard by following the steps here.

  2. Reinstate the streak via the Parent Dashboard: Parents have the ability to reinstate a child's streak from their Parent Dashboard account. We recommend reinstating streaks for a genuine reason only as we still want streaks to encourage healthy, regular usage.

Once a streak has been reinstated, children will have to go onto Doodle within the next 24 hours, complete a lesson and earn their Doodle stars in order to the streak to update.

How to reinstate a streak on the Parent Dashboard

  • Sign into your Parent Dashboard account

  • Select Analyse > Effort from the top menu

  • Click Reinstate streak from the streak box in the bottom left-hand corner of the page

An edit box will appear, showing the current streak and highest ever streak. It will not be possible to update a child's streak to a number higher than the number of days the account has been active.

Once the streak has been reinstated, a confirmation will be shown as well as a reminder that the child will need to complete work on their account in order for the change to take effect.

If your child's DoodleEnglish streak needs to be reinstated, please be sure to toggle onto the DoodleEnglish (comma) icon in the top right-hand corner of the page.

*A premium home subscription is required in order to access the streak reinstatement feature. If your child has a school subscription, and they can't use their streak saver, please get in touch with their class teacher.*
